Traveling to Cuba through out these years, I have learned lots of things about Cuban people, Cuban culture and Cuban traditions. Though Cuban coffee is actually not originally from Cuba, for some reason when you think about Cuba, Cuban rum, Cuban cigars and Cuban coffee is the first that comes to your mind. A cup of strong Cuban Coffee early in the morning, after the main meals or late in the afternoon is a deep-rooted tradition in Cuba and it is the first thing Cubans will offer you when you come to visit. Even tourist take back home a pack of Cuban coffee as a souvenir when they travel to Cuba on vacations.

There are many different ways to prepare coffee. You can add rum, Cuban eau-de-vie, honey, cinnamon, vanilla, ginger and much more, it all depends on what you like, or what you feel like having. I offer you here 5 delicious Cuba cold coffee recipes I learned from Yansel, the waiter at the Coffee House in Topes de Collantes. Yansel is a young guy who knows a lot about coffee. I told him he is a coffee encyclopedia and I was not joking. I tried these recipes myself and they are really unique, ideal for a hot summer day in Cuba.

Black and White

It is just an iced Turquino cup of coffee served with an ice cream ball (vanilla or chocolate work perfectly.) This delicious cold drink is ideal to soothe the heat away.

Kahlua dreams

Put some Serrano coffee in a cocktail shaker; add some coffee ice-cream and milk cream. Sweeten it with sugar to taste and add some Coffee Kahlua liqueur to complete a 10 ounce glass. Shake it and drink it cold. I'm sure you will love it.

Miss Ochum

Mix some Mulata Cuban rum, add some Banana liqueur and iced Turquino coffee; cover with cream and gently sprinkle with honey. It is the best treat you can get after a long walk along Topes de Collantes pathways.

Turquino

Add some ice cream to an iced cup of Turquino coffee, shake it, serve it in a glass and decorate it with cream and honey. After drinking this delicious Turquino coffee, no mountain will seem too high for you.

Marisol Fria

A challenge to your imagination, mix some orange liqueur with iced Turquino Coffee and condensed milk and serve it very cold. You will never forget it.
